BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONResponsible for managing the production of meals for the students, staff and walk in customers for the United States Virgin Island University. The position requires focus on the production of high quality meals, initiative to effectively deal with customers, special requirements and problem solving displaying excellent customer service skills. The position also requires innovation and constant interaction with customers to come up with ingenious ideas such as themed Friday nights, festivals, guests Chefs etc. to make the dining experience enjoyable and relaxing. The position requires as well the managing, planning and execution of events catering.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES·       Responsible of the Food Cost of the Company

·       Excellent food presentation, creative and decorative food displays

·       Schedules and staff requirements necessary to ensure timely delivery of services.

·       Inspecting supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with standards

·       Coaching cooks and other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.

·       Monitoring hygiene practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.

·       Preparing and cooking foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.

·       To Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation.

·       Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff.

·       Recording production and operational data on specified forms.

·       Collaborate with other personnel to plan and develop procedures, recipes and menus, taking into account such as customer favorites.

QUALIFICATIONS; EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE·       Minimum 3 years of experience working as Chef du Cuisine, preferably running a restaurant.

·       Excellent Planning, organizational and interpersonal skills with analytical thinking and effective decision making.

·       Experience with inventory management is essential.

·       Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office.

·       Good command of the English language, written and oral.

·       Spanish a plus.

·       HACCP certification a plus.
