Position Title: School Nutrition Services Specialists – Special Projects, Marketing and Catering

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
To assist the Director in providing safe, efficient and nutritionally sound food services for the Osceola
County School District students through operational efficiencies, program policy compliance and
review of daily food service operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To assist the SNS Director with the management of the department in the areas of operation and
nutrition, keeping current on all federal, state and district regulations, rules and policy applicable to
school food service.
Coordinate the decisions regarding product testing, menu planning, standardized recipe
development, USDA Foods usage, production record preparation, sanitation practices, and
procurement practices.
Plan, coordinate and implement all SNS employees training within the framework of the district’s
Master In-service Plan.
Assist with the planning, coordination and implementation of the SNS manager development
program.
Plan, coordinate and implement catering opportunities and special meal functions.
Assist in the planning of new facilities and the renovation of facilities.
To be a liaison with other district staff and/or allied groups to improve childhood nutrition, to
provide nutrition education, and contribute in the district’s wellness initiatives.
To develop special programs and activities to market and merchandise the SNS program, including
grant and award attainment.
Assists with providing technical assistance and the review of SNS operations including Pat’s Place, at
assigned work locations, consistent with SNS policies and procedures, including assisting in the
evaluation of SNS managers.
Assist with the purchase of food, supplies and kitchen equipment.
Participates as part of the district-wide Emergency Management Team.
Keeps SNS Director informed of potential problems or unusual events.
Models the routine, intentional and effective use of technology in daily work, including
communications, organization and management tasks.
Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with SNS staff, district
personnel, school officials, parents, students and the general public.
