John Woods, CEC – Featured Chef July 2013

John Woods - smallChef John Woods began his career as a food service specialist in the U.S. Army. After graduating from Fort Jackson, South Carolina in February of 1992 he joined the Florida National Guard and began working at The Villages. John worked for several years in various capacities for The Villages eventually being promoted to Executive Chef of the Villages Banquet Department.

Sometime soon after through a partnership between The Villages and The Lake Technical Center ACF Apprenticeship program he began the process of a more formal culinary education and certification. John graduated from The Lake Technical Center’s Apprenticeship program in July of 1999 and within a year recertified as a Certified Chef de Cuisine. During this time he was again promoted to Executive Chef of The Villages fine dining private supper club.

In September of 2004 he again recertified as a Certified Executive Chef and made the move to education becoming the Culinary Arts Instructor at The Villages High School, where he remains today. Recently completing ten years as the instructor of a growing and prosperous ACF Accredited Culinary Arts Academy.

John Woods is 41 years old and lives in Summerfield with his wife of 17 years, Dawn and their two children, Riley and Cassidy.
